Kishwauketoe

Kishwauketoe, which is the Potawatomi Indian word for "sparkling water," is a 230-acre nature conservancy that includes prairie habitats, woodlots, kettles (glacier-caused depressions), a deciduous forest, and a trout stream. The majority of Kishwauketoe is classified as wetland, which means the water table is at or near the surface.

Visitors may park in the lot at the intersection of Highway 67 and Stark Street (at the Lions Field House) in Williams Bay. Just across the street is the entrance garden and shelter where a self-guided tour brochure is available that will take nature lovers along four miles of managed (but unpaved) walking paths.

An observation platform at the north edge affords a splendid view of the property. A boardwalk has also been constructed through the wetland beginning at the eastern parking area on Harris Road. The Lions Club District (consisting of all Lions Clubs in the Geneva Lakes area) donated the funds for the first phase of the boardwalk.
